29/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has expressed, in a press release, some satisfaction following the vote on Thursday 25 October by MEPs in the plenary session of the European Parliament on the proposal for a directive to stimulate public acquisition of clean vehicles (see EUROPE 12126). The organisation particularly welcomes the willingness of MEPs to take into account all alternative fuels when assessing the cleanliness of the vehicle. The IRU also welcomes the Parliament's recommendation to oblige Member States and the EU to make funding instruments available to meet the requirements of the Directive. However, it regrets in particular that no clarification has been provided as to whether or not buses should be included in the scope of the Directive. (LT)
