17/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – At the end of a meeting between High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura that took place in Brussels on Friday 14 September, the European External Action Service announced the next day that the EU is to organise a high level meeting on Syria on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 26 September. Mogherini and de Mistura discussed the situation in Idlib and in the north of Syria, the preparations in Geneva for the creation of a constitutional committee to relaunch the political transition process, and the means by which the EU can support this process, including the efforts to bring the parties in the conflict back to the negotiations table.
