17/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – The Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, has confirmed that the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU will hold a high level political meeting in Vienna in December on EU/Africa relations (see EUROPE 12094). “We will host a Europe/Africa summit in December and we are hoping for France's support. We intend to focus on the economic development of Africa”, the Chancellor announced upon his arrival in Paris on Monday 17 September, where he was received by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, for preparations for the informal meeting of the heads of state or government in Salzburg. During the evening of Wednesday 19 and on Thursday 20 September, the Twenty-Eight will take stock of the migration challenge, security questions within the EU, and Brexit. (MB)
