European Parliament recommends new measures to reduce use of antibiotics

On Thursday 13 September, the European Parliament recommended the adoption of new measures to reduce the use of antibiotics. Rapporteur Karin Kadenbach (S&D, Austria) said that if nothing is done, antibiotic resistance could kill more people than cancer by 2050. 

The Parliament feels (by 367 to 250 and 16 abstentions) that it would be good to adopt measures requiring detailed labelling for improving consumer awareness and helping them "make more informed choices".  It also advises...
