13/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – During the evening of Wednesday 12 September, the European External Action Service announced that the EU, the E4 countries (France, Germany, Italy and the UK) and Iran had agreed, during a meeting held the same day, to meet again in this format "in the near future" to discuss regional issues. The discussions at their meeting yesterday focused on the political and humanitarian situation in Yemen and the follow-up to the Astana summit, held in Tehran last week, on the situation in Syria. Yesterday's meeting, in Brussels, was the third in this format – after that held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in February 2018, and after the meeting held in Rome in May 2018 (see EUROPE 12015). According to the Wall Street Journal, which quotes diplomats, these discussions have thus far had "a modest impact". (CG)
