12/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 September, the European Commission published, as planned, its proposal for a regulation on withdrawing terrorist content from the internet within one hour. This decision was taken at a time when the Commission believes the digital giants have not made the progress hoped for in the framework of self-regulation, which should contribute to citizens' security, as Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker stated on 12 September. These new rules will work in the following way: after the detection of terrorist content by the competent national authority, an order to remove this content will be sent to the service provider or content host, which will have one hour to execute the order. The right to contest is provided for for suppliers and hosts. EUROPE will return to this. (SP)
