European Parliament divisions over privatisation of national pension systems

MEPs showed themselves to be more divided than ever on the question of the system of financing pensions that should be promoted, with basically supporters of a public pension through redistribution facing those preferring a system by capitalisation, in a debate on Wednesday 12 September requested by the GUE/NGL. 

The debate was against the backdrop of a highly controversial proposal from the European Commission on the creation of an individual pan-European personal pension (PEPP)....
