27/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 August, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service, Maja Kocijancic, said work on measures to preserve the sale of Iranian oil despite the American sanctions was underway (see EUROPE 12057). On Saturday 25 August, Iran's Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif complained about these measures. "The EU was supposed to take several measures, including maintaining the sale of oil from Iran and the preservation of bank channels – two things we are still waiting for", he said. Stating that the EU had already set up the blocking law and adopted projects as part of economic cooperation (see EUROPE 12080), Kocijancic added that there were still measures in the process of being prepared with the partners in the context of the Iran nuclear deal.
