27/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – A study published by Transport & Environment on Monday 27 August on electric lorries considers that battery electric trucks (BET) are technically viable and could be competitive if legislators send out the “right signals”, explain the authors of the study. They highlight, for example, the possibility of making CO2 standards more rigorous, introducing differentiated road tolls in favour of electric trucks, heavier taxes on fossil fuels, supporting the expansion of the necessary infrastructure and industry and introducing “zero emission” freight policies for cities. The study highlights two difficulties: energy costs and managing consumption peaks, which would require a cost streamlining strategy. To consult the study in full please see https://bit.ly/2MxggJY.
