Continuation of talks for EU-Japan investment agreement until end of 2018 at earliest

Following a meeting of the chief negotiators on Wednesday 11 July, the European Commission stated that the negotiations between the European Union and Japan on an investment agreement (distinct from their economic partnership agreement that was concluded in December 2017) have now reached "a large degree of convergence" on investment protection standards, but that the their positions needed to be brought closer together on the mechanism for resolving investment protection disputes...
