12/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 12 July, MEPs in the European Parliament's internal market and consumer protection committee (IMCO) adopted (33 votes for, 3 against, 1 abstention) the agreement reached between Parliament and Council at the end of May (see EUROPE 12026) on the regulation setting up a Single Digital Gateway. It should be recalled that the aim of this regulation is to facilitate online access for citizens and businesses to certain national administrative documents by way of the “Your Europe” platform. Every member state will have to provide documents in the language that is most widely understood by cross-border users. Each procedure will also have to follow a “once only principle”, in other words, the documents can only be filled out on a single occasion. Parliament will have to confirm the agreement after the summer recess, during its September session. (PH)
