Spain's Rota naval base is to be new Atalanta operations headquarters

25/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – Spain’s Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, announced on Monday 25 June that the Rota naval base was to be the new operational headquarters (OHQ) for the counter-piracy operation EUNAVFOR Atalanta as of March 2019.  The Atalanta OHQ is currently in the United Kingdom, at Northwood.  The minister said the French port of Brest will host the maritime security centre for the Horn of Africa.  In addition to the Franco-Spanish offer, Italy had put itself...
