25/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 22 June during the publication of the annual European Innovation Scoreboard, the European Commission welcomed the European Union's results on innovation, even though it said the EU could do “better” when it comes to competing at an international level. On average, EU innovation performance has increased by 5.8% since 2010. Nonetheless, the Commission points out that there has still not been any convergence between the different EU countries. The Union is making progress against the US, Japan and Canada but is behind South Korea. Above all, China has caught up with the EU. Chinese growth in innovation is three times higher than that of the EU. Sweden is at the top of the European league table, followed by Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Luxembourg. Romania and Bulgaria are the bottom of the table. The scoreboard is available here: https://bit.ly/2eWexZn. (PH)
