Trust Fund for Syria approves new projects in Lebanon and Jordan for total of €167 million

21/06/2018 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 20 June, the EU Trust Fund for Syria adopted a raft of aid measures worth a total of €167 million in favour of Lebanon and Jordan. Of this money, €100 million will be earmarked for access to education for child Syrian refugees in Lebanon and €42 million will help to provide social aid and protection for vulnerable refugees and the host communities in the country. The remaining €15 million will reinforce the resilience of Palestinian refugees from Syria, who have found refuge in Lebanon (€13 million) and Jordan (€2 million). These new measures bring to €522 million and €214 million respectively the total amounts paid to Lebanon and Jordan out of this fund. Other measures may be announced in the second half of 2018, according to the Commission. (CG)
