At the Agriculture Council meeting in Luxembourg on Monday 18 June, France suggested using the animal feed sector to help speed up disposal of skimmed milk powder stocks which have, for many months, been affecting the market (see EUROPE 12037).
There still remains some 350,000 tonnes of the skimmed milk powder built up from public intervention and France proposed that a considerable quantity be put up for tender specifically for animal feed. Only Croatia backed the French idea.
