Council adopts regulation on South Pacific fisheries management

18/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 June, the Council of Ministers of the EU, without debate, adopted a regulation laying down management, conservation and control measures applicable in the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) Convention Area. The new measures relate mainly to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the management of certain species, ways of reducing sea bird mortality and exploratory fishing.
