15/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – Austria, Finland, Lithuania and Sweden have joined state EuroHPC cooperation in recent days to establish IT infrastructure capable of carrying out calculations a hundred times faster than at present using mega computers by 2022-2023. The European Commission will contribute €500 million towards the deployment of this infrastructure, which will cost nearly a €1 billion (see EUROPE 11937). 15 member states are already part of this cooperation, (Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Slovenia) along with Switzerland.
