11/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 8 June, the board of directors of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) examined the progress made by Athens in paying off the Greek debt arrears and decided not to disburse the second sub-tranche of €1 billion promised to Athens in the framework of the third monitoring mission of the third bailout plan at this stage (see EUROPE 11944). With a first sub-tranche of €5.7 billion already having been paid out, the ESM took the view that Greece's progress in settling its arrears was insufficient. A decision on this final sub-tranche may be made on Thursday 14 June. The Eurogroup meeting of 21 June in Luxembourg has been invited to decide upon the post-plan monitoring framework and, if necessary, to adopt relief measures for the Greek public debt (see EUROPE 12027).
