On Thursday 7 June, the British government published its proposals to settle the Irish issue, at least temporarily, after strong controversy within the cabinet of British Prime Minister Theresa May, and opposition between her and Brexit negotiations minister, David Davis.
The solution found by the May government is that of applying customs duties and EU customs policy to the whole UK and not only Northern Ireland as the Commission had proposed back in February (see EUROPE 11971). This...
