06/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – With every new day there is another revelation about the practices of US social network giant, Facebook. On Tuesday 5 June, Facebook confirmed that Chinese telecom groups, including Huawei, Lenovo, OPPO and TCL - had had access to the personal data of its users. On Monday, in response to an article in The New York Times, Facebook confirmed the conclusion of this kind of agreement with around 60 companies, at the time that the online ‘App Store’ did not yet exist. It also mentioned Black Berry and Samsung, but not these Chinese groups, which are also included on the US intelligence blacklist. The group explained that it is currently terminating these partnerships and that the situation cannot be compared to the Cambridge Analytica affair. Regarding the latter, Facebook also provided its second raft of written responses on Monday, available at this link: https://bit.ly/2LsSvxR. (MF)
