Dimitris Avramopoulos says Theo Francken's proposal to push migrants back can never be applied in Europe

European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos has rejected the proposals of Belgian Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken to apply the Australian model of migration and forge ahead with the push-back of migrants.

Francken made this proposal in Luxembourg on Tuesday 5 June, on the sidelines of the interior ministers' meeting.  He also proposed "finding a way to get round Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights", he told...
