Parliament's work on 'whistleblowers' directive begins to take shape

05/06/2018 (Agence Europe)Virginie Rozière (S&D, France) is due to present the draft report on the "whistleblowers" directive at the beginning of July during Parliament's judicial affairs committee, in view of a vote in October. Several observers say that this time frame is ambitious, particularly because of the six week summer recess, which will suspend work. With regard to the identity of the MEPs in charge of negotiating the report on behalf of their respective political group, several names have been circulated. At the EPP, it could be Geoffroy Didier from France. Jean-Marie Cavada (ALDE, France) and Pascal Durand also from France (Greens/EFA), shadow rapporteurs on the previous 'Rozière' initiative report (see EUROPE 11890), have been sounded out, as well as the name of Julia Reda, which is doing the rounds at the Greens. At the GUE/NGL, Kostas Chrysogonos from Greece has been confirmed. At the end of April, the European Commission presented a draft directive focusing on whistleblowers in the EU (see EUROPE 12004)(PH)
