European Parliament-Council agreement in extremis on processing of personal data by EU bodies

On Wednesday 23 May, the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and representatives of the European Parliament reached provisional political agreement on a draft regulation on the processing of personal data by European Union institutions and bodies.

This interinstitutional agreement was reached in timely fashion three days ahead of the entry into force of the GDPR Regulation on the protection of personal data in Europe (see related article).
