On Friday 27 April, the European Commission pointed out that negotiation with a view to renewing the EU/Morocco fisheries agreement will resume as soon as possible (see EUROPE 12006).
“During the first meetings that took place in Rabat”, up to 25 April, “the parties were able to make their expectations known and hold a first exchange of views on the future partnership aimed at establishing and strengthening sustainable fishing”, a joint EU/Morocco press release states.
After the meetings, the two sides hope to deepen their examination of the issue and hold the necessary consultation in order to consolidate their respective stances.
According to sources cited by the EFE agency, during the first round of talks discussions were limited to political matters without going into technical aspects. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
