06/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – The International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR) expressed concern in a press release issued on Wednesday 4 April about the impact of the French rail strikes at Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) in terms of European combined road-rail transport, particularly on North Sea, Mediterranean and Atlantic freight transport. The organisation says that if the strike is prolonged, freight could be affected into the long-term, unlike passenger transport. UIRR calls on the French government to ensure that European operators can access the rail freight network. (LT)
