27/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 March, MEPs at the European Parliament's civil liberties committee allocated the former French Keeper of the Seals, Rachida Dati (EPP) a seat on the committee in charge of selecting the head of the European Prosecutor's Office, as well as the European prosecutors. The founding regulation of the European Prosecutor's Office stipulates that the setting up of a selection committee consists of 12 figures chosen from among former members of the European Court of Justice and European Court of Auditors, as well as the national members of Eurojust, the respective national supreme courts, prosecutors and legal practitioners, including a member proposed by Parliament. The vote took place in a secret ballot. The different candidates proposed by the political groups included Eva Joly MEP (Greens/ EFA, France) and the Spanish judge Cándido Conde-Pumpido. (MF)
