08/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 12 March, the European Commission is to present a new package of initiatives, set out in its mid-term action plan (see EUROPE 11804), to complete the Capital Markets Union by 2019. This package will contain: - a directive establishing a European enabling framework for covered bonds, together with a regulation modifying the capital requirements for these bonds; - an initiative to reduce obstacles to the cross-border sales of alternative investment funds and UCITS; - a regulation on the assignment of claims and a communication on operations on securities clarifying the applicable law in a cross-border transaction. These proposals will come with a political communication presenting the package and calling for the work to be speeded up, with the particular aim of adopting the new initiatives before the end of this legislative term.
