05/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – The agency responsible for the management of Galileo and EGNOs, the GSA, together with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), are currently examining the possibility of creating new synergies between the different European space programmes, including Galileo and Copernicus. In a press release published on Wednesday 31 January, the agency explained that these possible synergies could help contribute towards the UN’s 2030 sustainable development goals. The agency explained that agriculture could be a possible beneficiary of linking Galileo's geolocation services to Copernicus’ satellite imaging. It also explained that the renewable energies sector could also be a major targeted beneficiary. In January 2018, the UNOOSA published a report on the potential benefits of further synergies between the different European space programmes (the report can be consulted here: http://bit.ly/2FNaxYJ ).
