04/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 January, the European Commission approved a French measure aiming to create and modernise industrial sidings. This support, with a budget of €60 million, will take the form of non-reimbursable grants aiming to support the partial financing of the construction, renovation, extension and recommissioning of private rail goods transport siding services, which are railways owned and operated by commercial businesses. The Commission, which noted that the measure would help to transfer road freight to rail, in line with the objectives of the common transport policy, concluded that the support measure complied with EU state aid rules.
