20/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 20 December, the European Commission announced that it has adopted the second phase of the aid initiate for peace in Syria from the Peace and Stability Instrument for the sum of 9 million euros. In a press release, the European Commission says that following the first phase, the new phase will continue to provide financial, technical and analytical support for work that will lead to a negotiated political transition in Syria. The Commission says the programme will continue in particular to accompany the mediation role of the United Nations special envoy in the political negotiations in Geneva. (CG)
