20/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – Burundians living in refugee camps in Tanzania will be able to count on a further €2 million of emergency humanitarian aid announced by the European Commission on Wednesday 20 December. The money will come from the budget of ECHO, the Commission’s humanitarian aid service, and will enable tens of thousands of vulnerable people to receive protection, access to drinking water and basic sewage services in refugee camps. Tanzania houses some 240,000 refugees. The additional aid will be sent though ECHO’s partner organisations and takes to €47.5 million the humanitarian aid for vulnerable Burundians from the European Commission since the start of the country’s political crisis in April 2015 after the anti-constitutional decision by President Nkurunziza to aspire to a third term of office.
