18/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 December, the European Commission approved two Italian tax support systems for the production of audiovisual content under the terms of Union rules on state aid. These involve cinematographic content and the measure in question will take the shape of a single tax credit rate of 30% applying to costs incurred by independent film producers. With regard to non-cinematographic content, a tax credit rate from 15-30% will also be introduced to help independent producers. Tax credits for businesses are also being introduced. The budget will be decided annually for these measures and could range from €50 million - €150 million and will be in force from 2023 and will replace two similar measures already approved by the Commission in 2014 and 2017.
