On Thursday 16 November the Estonian ambassador to the EU, Clyde Kull, announced that the ambassadors of the EU member states (Coreper) had reached a general approach on risk-preparedness in the electricity sector.
This approach will be adopted at one of the next Councils, Kull tweeted, saying he wished "all the success" possible to the next Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council to take this file to trialogue negotiation with the European Parliament.
The draft regulation on risk-preparedness in the electricity sector is one of four texts in the electricity market redesign package – which includes the draft revised directive on common rules for the electricity market, the draft revised directive on the electricity market, and the draft revised directive on the European Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), which was tabled as part of the clean energy package in November 2016 (see EUROPE 11679).
