17/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – The foreign ministers from the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum will meet in Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar) on 20-21 November to launch preparatory work for the 12th ASEM summit that is to be hosted by the EU in Brussels in October 2018. The ministers will discuss how to address the main challenges affecting the two continents – security, trade, climate change, the sustainable development goals and connectivity. The EU delegation will be led by High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. ASEM is an inter-regional forum bringing together the 28 EU countries plus Norway and Switzerland and 21 Asian countries plus the secretariat of the ASEAN bloc. ASEM partners represent around 60% of global GDP, 60% of global population and 60% of global trade. (EH)
