Grant of €4 million for France-Ireland interconnector

The promoters of the Celtic electricity interconnector between Ireland and France – transmission system operators EirGrid of Ireland and RTE of France – signed a grant agreement with the EU’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) on Wednesday 28 June. The €4 million funding comes from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and will finance a study that will cover the project’s detailed design, a public consultation, and preparation for its construction.
