29/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 June, the US authorities decided not to extend the list of airports where travellers have to put their laptops in the hold when they are travelling to the US. On Thursday 29 June, Enrico Brivio, the European Commission spokesperson for transport subsequently highlighted the “very fruitful cooperation in the security and safety domain” fostered between the US and European Union. He confirmed that a technical bilateral meeting had been held the previous day and during the meeting, “the two parties reaffirmed their determination to continue working towards ever greater safety” in air transport. An extension of this list was planned last month and the Commission did have fears that certain Union airports would be affected by the ban on on-board laptops (see EUROPE 11787). (LT)
