26/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 June, the European Commission awarded the road safety prize for excellency for five initiatives involving road safety and “their significant impact on saving lives on European roads". The prizes were awarded to the Heracles Group of Companies (Greece), the town of Martigues (France), the CTT in Correios de Portugal, the Romanian Automobile Club and Motorförarnas Helnykterhetsförbund (Sweden). The Commission took this opportunity to point out that after two years in which the number of fatalities on the roads had stagnated, the mortality rate on the roads did in fact decline by 2% in 2016.
