Intense WTO negotiations on agriculture ahead of Buenos Aires conference

During a session of the agricultural negotiations committee in Geneva on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 June, most WTO member countries said that cutting domestic support was the priority issue for the talks on the agricultural section of the Doha Round, ahead of the 11th WTO ministerial conference in Buenos Aires on 11-14 December.  However, a general consensus is emerging as to the fact that the Buenos Aires outcome on this issue will not be definitive.
