29/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Union is to provide over €44 million in humanitarian assistance to help people in need in Central and South-West Asia, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Commissioner Christos Stylianides announced in Pakistan on Monday 29 May. The aid, which will be funded from the budget of the Commission’s humanitarian service, ECHO, will in part be used to help victims of the conflict in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan, with particular emphasis on children. It will also help improve disaster risk management in Central Asia. During his visit to Pakistan, the Commission Stylianides met UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan Neil Buhne. (AN)
