15/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 May, the EU member state foreign affairs ministers urged Venezuelans to be calm and engage in dialogue at a time when the situation in the country continues to worsen. In its conclusions, the Council says it is extremely important to refrain from violence. It calls on all the actors and political institutions to work in a constructive spirit, seeking a solution to the crisis, in full respect of the rule of law and human rights, democratic institutions and the separation of powers. The EU is ready to use all the instruments available to it in order to support the regional and international efforts for a solution, and is ready to cooperate with the authorities in order to lend assistance and ensure the safety of the 600,000 European citizens in the country, the EU foreign ministers state.
