20/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission said on Thursday 20 April that it had approved the request from Italy for two further protected geographical indications (PGIs) to be included in the register of quality agricultural products. The new PGIs are “Vitelloni Piemontesi della coscia”, meat from pure-bred cattle reared and fattened in the area of production, and “Marche”, an extra-virgin olive oil the area of production of which includes the Adriatic region of Marche in the north-east of Italy where olive groves are the main orchards. These indications join over 1,390 products already protected in the register of quality products. (LC)
