07/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Swedish capital, described by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker as “one of Europe’s most vibrant and colourful cities”, suffered a terrorist attack in the early afternoon of Friday 7 April. A lorry rammed into pedestrians and crashed into a shop in a shopping street in the centre of Stockholm. There are believed to be a number of casualties. “We stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the people of Sweden and the Swedish authorities can count on the European Commission to support them in any way we can” said Juncker, joining many others across the EU in condemning the atrocity. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. “An attack on any of our Member States is an attack on us all”, he stated in his message. (JK)
