During the EU-Algeria Association Council in Brussels on Monday 13 March, the two parties adopted a joint document that sets the "common priorities for the partnership". These were decided upon at the end of the year's assessment that was requested by Algiers.
According to Algeria's Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, this re-assessment showed "the asymmetry of the benefits of cooperation" that has existed since the association agreement entered into force in 2005.
