17/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – The president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said on Thursday 16 February that it would probably take more than two years to agree on the measures required for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. He said he wasn’t even sure that they would manage to clarify arrangements for Brexit in 24 months and also forge all of the aspects of the new relationship between the UK and the Continent. He was speaking at a conference on the fringes of the Munich International Security Conference, quoted by Reuters. The European Commission’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, said that taking account of the planned timelines, the EU and London would only have until October 2018 to negotiate their divorce.
