17/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – Provisional conclusions on a space strategy for Europe, prepared by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU and reported on in this newsletter (see EUROPE 11724) were warmly welcomed by the joint ‘Space’ working group on Thursday 16 February. We learned that the Maltese Presidency carried out in-depth consultations with the member states ahead of publication, which explains the warm welcome. On 23 February, the member states will be invited to set forth their comments. The revised document will then be discussed at the Council’s next ‘Space’ working group meeting on 20 March in view of adoption on 30 May. Cooperation between the EU and Norway on encrypted navigation services (‘Public Regulated Service’ - PRS) is addressed in the document. (PH)
