31/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 30 January, the new president of Bulgaria Roumen Radev expressed his concern that the EU could become hostage of its sanctions policy on Russia. " I do not see what is the practical use of them [sanctions], as the losses are obvious. I fear that the new US administration will restore the dialogue with Russia and the EU will remain hostage to the sanction war", he told Euractiv. At a press conference the same day, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker refused to answer a question on this subject. Saying that the sanctions had been addressed in the meeting. Juncker added that there were no "major divergences" between Bulgaria and the Commission. "We've taken decisions, they are valid. We will come back in due time. This is not the time for a change", he said. (CG)
