25/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 25 January, Pier Antonio Panzeri MEP (S&D, Italy) was elected president, by acclamation, of the European Parliament’s human rights subcommittee. He was the only candidate and takes over from Elena Valenciano from Spain, who is also a member of the S&D. Also by a vote of acclamation and without any other candidates, Cristian Dan Preda (EPP, Romania) was elected 1st vice president, Beatriz Becerra Basterrechea (ALDE, Spain), 2nd vice president, László Tõkés (EPP, Hungary), 3rd vice president, and Barbara Lochbihler, 4th and final vice president.
