EPP launches campaign to support its InterRail project for young people

08/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 7 December, the EPP gave the go-ahead to its campaign to support the free InterRail ticket for young people celebrating their 18th birthdays. The project was put forward by Manfred Weber (EPP, Germany) and was presented for the first time following an EU State of the Union speech by Jean-Claude Juncker (see EUROPE 11639). It is supposed to provide a response to the current existential crisis being experienced in Europe. The European Commission is currently examining how to finance this project and intends to launch an experimental phase at the beginning of 2017 (see EUROPE 11674). (PH)
