08/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – The threshold of 40 MEPs was reached to include a point of order on next week’s plenary session agenda between the Commission and Germany regarding the road tariff project (see EUROPE 11680). This announcement was made on Thursday 8 December by a group of EPP MEPs behind this initiative. The notable members of the group include Pascal Arimont (Belgium), Wim van de Camp (Netherlands) and Pavel Svoboda (Czech Republic). In a press release before of the Council of Presidents held the same day, they stated, “The Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc, is due to come to Parliament and explain the unacceptable agreement concluded with German Minister Dobrindt”. As we went to press, the point had still not been included on the agenda. Commissioner Bulc had been subject to much heckling over the agreement during its presentation to the Transport and Tourism Committee on Monday 5 December (see EUROPE 11684). (PH)
