05/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – Polish gas company PGNiG announced on Monday 5 December that it had lodged a complaint with the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) against the Commission decision at the end of October to grant Russian gas company Gazprom further transit capacity through the OPAL gas pipeline which is linked to Nord Stream, the German-Russian pipeline under the Baltic, and runs the length of the German eastern border as far as the Czech Republic (see EUROPE 11657). The Polish company wants this decision to be overturned, arguing that it is damaging to PGNiG’s interests and breaches the rules on competition on the EU natural gas market, including those on the access of third parties to gas pipelines.
